Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Astronomy Guide to join our team in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. This role involves leading educational programs and engaging visitors in the wonders of astronomy while fostering a deeper understanding of the universe. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for astronomy, strong communication skills, and the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.
Responsibilities
- Conduct guided astronomy tours and educational sessions for visitors, showcasing celestial phenomena and astronomical concepts.
- Develop and implement engaging programs that highlight the significance of stargazing and the night sky in the Greater Yellowstone region.
- Maintain knowledge of current astronomical research and advancements in the field, as well as indigenous knowledge and local history of the night sky
- Operate a range of optical equipment such as telescopes, binoculars and other stargazing equipment
- Provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Strong background in astronomy or a related field; experience in research is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for sharing knowledge about the universe.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings for stargazing events.
