It was founded in 1983 as the Beartooth Nature Center and has recently celebrated its 40th Anniversary. The Sanctuary's mission is to provide lifelong sanctuary to non-releasable native wildlife while promoting conservation and education efforts.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Animal Care Manager at the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary in Red Lodge, MT. The Animal Care Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day care and well-being of the sanctuary's native wildlife residents, coordinating with the veterinary team, managing enrichment programs, and ensuring compliance with animal care standards.
Qualifications
- Animal Care, Animal Health including diet, enrichment, and medication plans
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment
- Management experience including hiring, training, and supervising animal keepers
- Ability to handle and care for a variety of wildlife species including carnivores
- Awareness and adherence to government agency regulations required for Sanctuary animals
- Strong observational, organization, and communication skills with the ability to maintain records for all residents of the Sanctuary.
- Previous experience in wildlife rehabilitation or sanctuary management is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Zoology, Wildlife Management, or related field
