Position Summary
As the Azure Cloud Infrastructure & Database Architect, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Azure Compute, Networking, and SQL Server solutions across multiple product lines. This key role requires technical skills and an individual who can hear the needs of our product owners and collaborate with various teams to ensure we continue to deliver world-class solutions to our customers.
The Team Lead for database administration will be a collaborative leader focused on mentoring, coaching, and developing team members. They will foster a high-performing and collaborative culture to drive strong performance, career growth, and engagement within the team. As a member of the Product Technology Services (PTS) team, you can work on various solutions using a diverse toolset to develop innovative and stable solutions. This team implements and maintains all Cloud and data center services at Yes Energy and responds as needed to major incidents 24x7x365.
Yes Energy runs production systems in several different cloud-based environments. This position will focus on Azure technologies, specifically compute and database instances, and the associated security and networking around those instances. It is an exciting opportunity to drive and support one of our newest product lines.

Position Details
- Salary Range: $140000 - $165000 Annually
- Location: Boston, MA (preferred), Chicago, IL, Richmond, VA
- Full-time
- Hybrid - 2-3 days working in the office
- Reporting to: Vice President, Technology
- Architect robust cloud solutions, including the migration/integration of on-prem infrastructure with Azure
- Architect and manage Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
- Liaise between the DBA and other engineering, data, and IT teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration on database-related priorities and issues.
- Design and optimize Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), VM Scale Sets, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, partitioning, and caching.
- Design and manage Azure Virtual Networks (VNETs), Subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Application Security Groups (ASGs) and Private Link/Endpoints
- Disaster Recovery Planning and testing
- ACL and Role Management
- Helping tier 2 support answer customer questions and requests.
- Accelerate engineering with the development of Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
- Administer and maintain Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), including user provisioning, access management, and security policies.
- Configure and support Single Sign-On (SSO) with applications using OAuth, SAML, and OpenID Connect.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of eight years experience building and managing mission-critical systems infrastructure to support business functions
- Minimum of six years experience in the database administration field with responsibility for maintaining and tuning large data sets
- Minimum of eight years experience working in a SaaS or Service oriented setting, where priorities can sometimes change
- A demonstrated passion for working/learning with other highly skilled professionals
- The ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire a team, including delegating tasks and managing team performance
- Experience as both a Systems/Network Engineer and Database Administrator
- Experience with DevOps principles and technologies
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) administration and IAM (Identity and Access Management).
- Experience with Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and applying security best practices.
- Experience in a SaaS environment where 24/7 uptime and response were the expectation
- Experience as a team lead or supervisor
- Experience in managing customer expectations while delivering high-quality solutions
- Experience in conflict resolution in a collaborative environment
- Experience with BOTH traditional RDBMs (SQL Server, Oracle) and cloud-native databases (Snowflake, Synapse)
- Experience with procedural SQL (Transact SQL, PLSQL, SQLPL)
- Knowledge of general-purpose scripting languages such as Python, Javascript, and PowerShell
- Familiarity with Zero Trust frameworks and cloud compliance standards
