The Field Technician is responsible for installing and maintaining thousands of patented measurement sensors in the field. The home coverage region will be Texas, but the sensors will extend into neighboring states.
We are looking for an outgoing, humble, highly flexible, and driven individual who likes field work, exploring maps, and speaking to landowners. The role combines a traditional land leasing agent and a field sensor installer. It is a unique role that suits a certain type of individual who likes a mixture of land and power plant research but also likes to go out and get their hands dirty and interact with the public.

Travel requirements: 80% travel with 4 out of 5 days a week in the field
- Installs sensors in rural, urban, and suburban outdoor settings.
- Acts as the face of the company to property owners who host our sensors.
- Coordinates closely with the Deployment Team to improve and implement better practices.
- Helps plan weekly site visits, balancing maintenance activities with new installations.
- Daily activities may include on-site installation, repair, troubleshooting, and field survey completion.
- Maintains a clean, orderly environment, adhering to company policies.
- Perform basic use and care of hand tools, mechanical equipment, multimeter, and total station.
- Travel 4 out of 5 days (80% of travel) a week in the field. Some of the work will be close to your base, but it will often entail staying overnight away from home and sometimes all week.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- A college degree is not required, but a strong background in pragmatic applied math is.
- Clean driver's license
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to travel 4 out of 5 days a week (80% of travel)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, twist, squat, kneel, sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to work outside and withstand varied inclement weather conditions.
- Able to work independently and enjoy working outside and in rugged environments.
- Motivated individuals who will “own” their region and help in other geographical regions of the USA when needed.
- A people person who is friendly and positive with colleagues and landowners to establish trust in our company. Personability is absolutely crucial to our business model.
Familiarity with electricity concepts is a plus.
- You are a logical troubleshooter and comfortable figuring out a fix to various problems encountered in the field.
- You like talking with people and can convince new property owners to host our sensors in return for an annual payment.
- You are a solid and clear communicator who recognizes the importance of alignment between fieldwork and bottom-line business goals.
- Live Power provides mileage reimbursement and per diem allowance during travel.
- Experience with field technical installations, such as wind turbines, solar systems, cell towers, or similar fieldwork, is a plus.
- Experience with surveyor methods and total stations is also a plus.
