As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will collaborate with leaders in technology, data, and energy to build solutions and tools for handling the highly complex problems posed by the evolving power grid. You will also work directly on projects to integrate systems and serve energy data to customers. Position Details
- Salary range: $150,000 - $170,000 depending on experience and location
- Location: Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Boulder, CO
- Full-time
- Hybrid - Will be required to work in the office 2-3 days a week
- Reporting to: Senior Director, Engineering
- Lead in developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, reliable systems using the full stack.
- Provide architectural guidance and vision, ensuring alignment with the overall company strategy.
- Work closely with operations and infrastructure to build and scale services.
- Engage actively in all product life cycle phases, emphasizing design and strategic planning.
- Embrace Agile development methodologies and practices.
- Facilitate and lead implementation and architecture discussions.
- Coach, mentor, and guide peers, driving an excellence and continuous learning culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
- Minimum of seven years of experience working as a software engineer, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Solid experience in C#, .NET experience a plus.
- Working knowledge of relational database management systems such as SQL Server.
- Extensive experience developing for and working in cloud environments, AWS preferred
- Ability to create and optimize queries and understand relational data structures.
- Extensive experience designing, building, and consuming REST APIs.
- Understanding of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token (JWT).
- Familiarity with data integration and ETL tools.
- Passion for optimizing system performance and scalability.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Passion for sharing knowledge with the rest of your team, building shared tooling, and directly helping customers.
- Self-directed and comfortable supporting the needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.
- Continual learner, engaged in professional development.
- Proven expertise in leading large-scale projects and driving innovative solutions.
- Have experience with TDD and/or continuous testing
- Have a desire to learn the energy industry or expertise in equities/commodities trading
