POSITION: Accountant
REPORTS TO: Director of Accounting
POSITION TYPE: 12-month
START DATE: Immediate
COMPENSATION: $60,818 – $72,981, Home Office Grade 5
THE OPPORTUNITY
YES Prep needs a dynamic, Accountant, with a diverse set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. To put it simply, you will support the Director of Accounting and Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance Department. In addition, you will relieve the Director of Accounting & Controller of certain responsibilities that will allow them to spend a greater portion of their time on Financial Statement preparation and analysis, Budget and Variance issues, and Forecasting.
THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger: prepare and review journal entries, monitor payroll accruals, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable accounting, and ensure compliance with non-profit fund accounting, Texas public school accounting and other requirements.
- Reconciliation and analysis of bank and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare monthly management reports
- Analyze revenue and expense transactions for accuracy
- Assisting in the production of monthly financial packages for internal and external constituents.
- Coordinating financial performance dialogue with campus leadership and leaders of Home Office teams as related to special project reporting.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures that provide the platform from which YES Prep will operate with integrity and consistency.
- Responsible for understanding different Accounting System modules within Tyler Munis such as Cash Management, Capital Assets and General Revenue modules.
- Additional duties as assigned.

THE NICE TO HAVES
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Experience with GAAP reporting
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting and public sector finance, strongly preferred.
- Public education finance experience, preferred.
