Job Summary
This position requires a Doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field, as well as a current license to practice as a Psychologist in the State of employment. The ideal candidate will also have a background check, security clearance, and drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical services, consultative services, and supervisory services in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Offer routine behavioral health services, including intake assessments, individual and group intervention, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
- Participate in crisis intervention services when requested by institutional staff, medical staff, or inmate self-referral.
- Document all clinical encounters and significant behavioral health information in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Assist in effecting movement to an appropriate setting when a patient's mental status indicates they are a danger to themselves or others.
- Collaborate with Psychiatrist and nursing staff in monitoring patients receiving psychotropic medications.
- Provide training in human behavior and/or mental health issues to institutional staff as requested and clinically allowed.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service training programs offered by behavioral health departments and the Department of Correction.
- Perform other services relating to the behavioral health department as assigned.
