Position Summary:

The Clinical Fieldwork and Student Teaching Supervisor finds inclusive and culturally diverse classrooms that welcome fieldworkers and student teachers to mentor teacher candidates. The coordinator prepares faculty supervisors, cooperating schools, and cooperating teachers for compliance with NYC & NYS policy and fieldwork and student teaching requirements. The Clinical Fieldwork and Student Teaching Coordinator is responsible for data collection, organization, and analysis related to clinical experiences, including but not limited to attendance records, observation reports, final evaluations, and AAQEP accreditation expectations.

The Clinical Fieldwork and Student Teaching Supervisor monitors teacher candidates' progression through their Educator Preparation Program. They are responsible for gating and documenting students' completion of all necessary clinical requirements to qualify for NYSED (New York State Education Department) state certification. They will work closely with the teacher candidates and with the Education faculty and cooperating teachers and principals.

Qualified candidates will be former classroom educators with certification in early childhood or childhood education, have had extensive classroom teaching experience in grades N-6, and be available during school hours for clinical observations and meetings. The Clinical Fieldwork & Student Teaching Supervisor visits schools to evaluate placements and cooperating teachers. The Clinical Fieldwork & Student Teaching Supervisor must be familiar with learning management systems, Microsoft 365, and willing to learn new instructional technology skills.

This is a full-time position for one year beginning July 2025.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitor teacher candidates' progression through program gates and document student completion of all necessary fieldwork and student teaching clinical requirements to qualify for NYSED state certification
  • Communicate all information about clinical fieldwork and student teaching responsibilities and expectations, including PETS nomination, fingerprinting and background compliance
  • Recommend, coordinate, and update information on the College's website and TEAMS platforms related to clinical placements
  • Communicate policy and protocol changes and monitor compliance with NYSED/ NYCDOE requirements concerning clinical placements
  • Arrange & organize fieldwork and student teaching placements for teacher candidates according to the following course framework
  • The Fall semester course responsibilities: Childhood and Early Childhood student teaching courses, EDUC 2940 & EDUC 2945; two methods courses with fieldwork components, EDUC 2133 and EDUC 2301
  • The Spring semester course responsibilities: Coordinating the fieldwork for six courses and teaching one EDUC-required or elective course
  • Summer Responsibilities: Data analysis and reporting from the past year, securing the fieldwork and student teaching clinical placements for the coming year, and updating the artifacts that will support the clinical placements by loading the candidate files with all the current iteration of the artifacts for the year
  • Manage relationships with area principals & directors and actively recruit and foster new partnerships, alliances, and relationships with clinical sites and school community networks
  • Create and/or update fieldwork and student teaching handbooks or infographics about the NYSED webinars, fingerprinting, and NYSED/NYCDOE accounts
  • Manage documentation, organization, and analysis of fieldwork and student teaching data and evidence measures, including TPA
  • Attend department meetings, NYSED/NYCDOE, & AAQEP meetings to remain current on educator preparation program field experience/clinical requirements
  • Work with the College & University Education Department Chair to recommend and coordinate updates to the Educator Preparation Program web page and artifacts
  • Provide accurate and timely information to teacher candidates, cooperating teachers, and clinical partners
  • The Clinical Fieldwork & Student Teaching Supervisor visits schools to evaluate placements and cooperating teachers

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Master's degree in education
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Qualified candidates will be former classroom educators with certification in early childhood or childhood education, have had extensive classroom teaching experience in grades N-6, and be available during school hours for clinical observations and meetings
  • The Clinical Fieldwork & Student Teaching Supervisor must be familiar with learning management systems, Microsoft 365, and willing to learn new instructional technology skills

Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word processing, Excel, Google Drive, Microsoft 365, Canvas LMS (Learning Management System) or similar learning management systems, and infographic tools
  • Familiarity with data assessment and reporting
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes is preferred
  • Confidence in working with database management systems
  • Effective communication skills, collegial, cross-cultural sensitivity, and awareness
  • Strong organization skills and excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-motivated and strong coaching skills
  • Ability to interact collaboratively and professionally with diverse groups
  • An appreciation and understanding of working in an inclusive, engaging, and diverse college environment
  • Culturally sensitive, caring, and friendly, with a deep understanding and appreciation of a multi-cultural college community and respect for the Jewish traditions of Yeshiva University

Salary Range:

$65,000 - $75,000
