Position Responsibilities:
- Assist with the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close.
- Process month-end general ledger entries for assigned accounts.
- Prepare analysis, draft memorandums, and propose journal entries for complex accounting matters which may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Preparation of the lease accounting process, in accordance with accounting standard 842.
- Preparation of the opening balances from business combinations, in accordance with accounting standard 805.
- Preparation of the analysis to determine if capitalization of interest is appropriate, in accordance with accounting standard 835.
- Calculation and maintenance of asset retirement obligations.
- Preparation of goodwill and intangibles analysis.
- Management and reconciliation of fixed asset general ledger accounts and calculation of depreciation.
- Preparation of the sale-leaseback analysis.
- Perform capital spend analysis, including segregation between maintenance capital expenditures.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with internal policies.
- Perform quarterly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis.
- Produce support for assigned footnote disclosures.
- Track evidence for assigned internal controls.
- Assist with external audits.
- Interface with management in various departments.
- Perform analysis to review and analyze key accounts.
- Complete ad hoc projects and analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in consumer retail industry strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, CPA preferred.
- Four years of minimum experience in public accounting or similar position.
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and internal control procedures.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
