Summary
The qualified candidate is an experienced Sales Engineer who will be based in the Portland, Oregon area supporting one of our top customers. This hybrid role will consist of being remote and onsite at our customer's facility. As the Sales Engineer, you will serve as the primary liaison between our sales, engineering team and customers in the commercial truck industry. Your primary focus is providing in-depth product knowledge, assisting in technical presentations, while delivering tailored solutions ensuring we are effectively meeting the needs of our valued customers. You will play a pivotal role in building strong relationships while increasing sales in a highly competitive market.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical resource for the sales team and customers, offering expert guidance on commercial truck products and solutions
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of technical proposals, product demonstrations, and client presentations
- Conduct on-site product demonstrations and provide technical training to customers
- Collaborate with customers to understand their specific requirements and develop customized solutions
- Support the sales team in achieving sales targets by providing technical support and troubleshooting
- Work closely with the engineering team to ensure the successful implementation of customized solutions
- Act as the point of contact for post-sale support, ensuring customer satisfaction and resolving any technical issues
- Remain abreast with updated industry trends, product developments, as well as competitor offerings to maintain a competitive edge
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5 years of experience in sales engineering and/or a technical support role, preferably in the commercial truck or automotive industry
- Strong understanding of commercial truck products, systems, and applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Proven ability in building and maintaining clients and internal team's relationships
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to meet customer needs
- Highly motivated self-starter with time management skills, keen in achieving deadlines
- Experience with project management
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as required
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with truck fleet management solutions, telematics, or vehicle customization
- Familiarity with CAD software and technical documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards
- Bi-Lingual in English/ Mandarin Chinese and/or Spanish a plus
- Experience and understanding of AIAG standards
- Experience and understanding of IATF processes and standards
