Our busy and growing Primary Care Practice is looking for a hardworking, friendly, and reliable Back Office Medical Assistant to join our team! Job Responsibilities
As a Back Office Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our providers and ensuring efficient clinical operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Patient Care & Clinical Support:
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
- Administer injections, vaccinations, and medications as directed by providers.
- Perform in-office diagnostic tests, including EKGs, spirometry, and urinalysis.
- Assist with minor office procedures, wound care, and suture/staple removal.
- Conduct vision and hearing screenings when needed.
Administrative & Documentation Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Assist with prescription refills, prior authorizations, and medication reconciliation.
- Coordinate referrals, lab orders, imaging requests, and follow-up care.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and prepared for daily patient flow.
- Follow HIPAA and OSHA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality and workplace safety.
Patient Interaction & Communication:
- Provide patient education on medications, procedures, and lifestyle modifications.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff to ensure seamless care.
- Assist with patient check-in/out and scheduling as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) preferred but not required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office or clinical setting preferred.
- Proficiency in using EHR systems (experience with [Your EHR System] is a plus).
- Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent communication and bedside manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
