YMCA Camp Weona (CampWeona.com) is nestled among 800 acres of hills and forests in Gainesville, NY.

POSITION SUMMARY :
Responsible for the safe operation of the swimming pool and waterfront program activities. Delivers swim lessons to participants. Performs the responsibilities of overnight camp counselor when not lifeguarding.
GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE :
This is a residential position where food and lodging are provided during hours of work. The work week follows the camper session which begins each Sunday and ends on Friday with a 24 hour break in-between. Dates of employment include a week of training starting June 22, 2025, 7 weeks of program, and concludes on August 16, 2025.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Enforce all pool safety rules, pool emergency procedures, and aid swimmers when necessary.
- Complete incident reports and treat injuries.
- Instruct participants in swim classes, and implement the YMCA of the USA and YMCA Buffalo Niagara swim instruction program.
- Is alert, friendly and responsive to swimmers, parents, and co-workers.
- Record pool temperature, pool chemical qualities, documentation of swim lesson skill achievement, and attendance.
- Perform the duties of an overnight camp counselor when not scheduled to be on the pool deck.
- Follow and enforce department protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces. Ensure PPE compliance.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of program / work areas.
- Ensure proper usage of pool equipment, i.e., lane lines, emergency equipment, etc.
- Maintain all required certifications, attend all staff training sessions to practice skills and learn program standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
