Program Instructor (March–November)
YMCA Camp Bernie is hiring Program Instructors to facilitate outdoor education, weekend retreats, and summer camp programming. This multi-season role runs from March 14 to November 16 and includes on-site housing, meals during program operations, and weekly pay of $365–$465.
In spring and fall, instructors lead classes of 12–18 participants in activities such as climbing, team-building, archery, hiking, and crafts. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, using engaging techniques to teach established lessons, and fostering personal growth in participants. Instructors also maintain program equipment, inspect facilities for safety, and provide exceptional guest service by addressing needs promptly and professionally.
During summer, instructors serve as camp counselors, building relationships with campers and supervising activities, meals, and cabin life. They lead camp activities, assist with special events, and foster a positive, inclusive environment focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Counselors are role models who create a fun, safe space for youth development and community building.
Qualifications include being 18 or older, with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Previous experience leading group activities and working with children is preferred. First Aid and CPR certification may be required. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm in a team-oriented setting.
