What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Staff position at YMCA Camp Tecumseh, Inc?
Position Summary
Maintenance staff perform upkeep tasks such as repairs and routine maintenance on buildings, equipment, vehicles, etc. You will be responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensuring facilities are functional. Being reliable with a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have experience and solid technical knowledge. You must also possess manual dexterity and physical stamina. Construction and maintenance of various camp buildings and spaces. The ideal candidate will have experience with general carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Vehicle Maintenance – Preventative maintenance on vehicles including oil and tire changes.
- Operating machinery (such as: skidsteer, forklift, backhoe, manlift, bucket truck, tractor, dump truck, mini excavator, snow plow etc) to upkeep 1,000 acres of property. Also includes using a chain saw for tree clean-up.
- Construction – Using carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC to build and maintain facilities. Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Installation - Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
- Repairing - Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
- Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Determining material resources - Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work.
- Time Management - Managing one's own time while working independently
- General knowledge and experience with hand and power tools
- Perform basic routine and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned
- Ex: Replacing furnace filters
- Perform basic equipment maintenance repairs
- Good driving record
- Positive and energetic attitude
- Knowledge of carpentry, vehicle maintenance, general plumbing, and minor electrical knowledge including changing light fixtures, ceiling fans, and outlets.
- Must have your own basic hand tools such as hammer, wrenches, screwdrivers, tape measure cordless tools, etc.
- Cover on-call duties as assigned which may include overnight and weekend duties
- Ability to utilize phone and radio for communication.
- Ability to read and write to follow safety protocols.
