Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Program Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our teen programs and initiatives, ensuring they run smoothly and effectively. This position requires strong mentoring skills, a passion for working with teens, and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
1. Will assist in the process of recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, managing, and evaluating program staff. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
2. Supervise all staff assigned to the site. Manage all employee schedules, accurate recording and reporting of time worked, arrange coverage and ensure a quality program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the overall performance of the teen programs. Set measurable goals for the program on a yearly basis.
2. Design and implement a variety of programs for teens that promote engagement, life skills, leadership and development.
3. Serve as a positive role model and mentor, providing guidance and support as teens navigate challenges and develop leadership skills.
4. Lead by example and always interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
5. Promote teamwork, inclusivity and respect among teens participating in the program.
6. Collaborate with local schools, organizations and volunteers to promote program participation and community involvement.
7. Coordinate with partners to leverage resources, share expertise and implement collaborative projects that benefit youth participants.
8. Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth, and relationships among youth, and within families.
9. Supervises the children, program spaces, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
10. Students arrive and depart as a drop-in model site
a Take accurate attendance [time in, unit number, name to face, time out] when students are in attendance.
b Follow proper safety procedures during transitions.
c Actively supervise, manage, and role model appropriate behaviors.
11. IF APPLICABLE [i.e. no school day, schools go remote] ~ Assist with Remote Learning
a Help keep track of, and assist with login, for scheduled Zooms.
b Review assignments and check student progress – Help keep kids on task.
c Assist when homework help is needed.
12. Maintains all safety standards including but not limited to: supervision, and zoning practices.
13. Cultivate positive relationships and maintain effective communication with families. Work with families as concerns/issues arise.
14. Maintain programming equipment & supplies and maintain a clutter-free environment.
15. Provide direct care in teen programs, in addition to administrative responsibilities.
16. Maintain an engaging, positive environment and manage any negative behaviors or conflicts using positive discipline techniques and restorative practices.
17. Participate in Child and Adult Care Food Program food service duties, recordkeeping and all required trainings.
18. Perform all opening and closing procedures on a consistent basis.
19. Maintains required program records, reports and reporting materials.
20. Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
21. Communicate any issues that may impact the program or organization to the Supervisor as soon as they are identified.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Must possess the ability to remain calm, maintain a calm tone of voice and speak respectfully to children.
- Must complete all necessary onboarding training, register and complete CPR/First Aid/AED or provide proof of current certification.
