What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Staff position at YMCA of Auburn?
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Food Service staff will: (1) Develop a well-balanced, nutritional, and kid-friendly menu, (2) order, store, and inventory all foodstuffs and related supplies properly, (3) cook and/or prepare all meals (breakfast, lunch, and snack), (4) maintain proper sanitation of the kitchen, (5) ensure that foodstuffs are stored and prepared at the temperatures approved by the NYSDOH, and (6) complete all paperwork for submittal to the DOH.
The Food Service Staff must bring with him or her a strong sense of responsibility and punctuality, a high attention for cleanliness in his/her working environment, a reasonable level of expertise in the food service industry, and an understanding and value orientation appropriate the Christian principles of the Association and YMCA. The Food Service Staff must be ambitious, organized, and flexible.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience: At least 2 years experience as a cook required for large groups required.
Specific Skills, Interests, Certifications, Etc: Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving and kitchen sanitation standards and procedures. Training or ample experience cooking for large groups. Ability to work well with others in a childcare setting.
