What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instruction and Assessment Coordinator position at YMCA of Buffalo Niagara?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Develops and implements the curriculum and lesson plans for the Universal Pre-K (UPK) program.
GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:
40 hours per week. Must be available to work between the hours of 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create and manage the yearly assessment calendar.
- Attend and/or facilitate required assessment training sessions for teachers.
- Work with program executive director to identify professional development needs associated with assessments and curriculum delivery.
- Work with program executive director to create and manage the yearly professional development calendar.
- Collect and analyze assessment data throughout the year.
- Support the instructional development of all teachers through observations and providing feedback to teachers.
- Model classroom management and teaching techniques as needed.
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
- Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with YMCA initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and school administration.
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of program/work areas.
- Provides a safe environment for all activities. Enforces safety rules and report/treat any injuries.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Meets the requirements outlined in the contract with the School District and/or the local Board of Education.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or related field.
3. New York State Teacher Certification B-2 is required.
4. Two years of teaching experience in an Early Childhood classroom setting.
5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
6. Successful leadership experience.
7. Familiar with Early Childhood assessment tools
8. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are preferred and may be required based on location.
