Overview
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator and in accordance with the mission of the YMCA, the Pool Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies and assisting with supervision of lifeguard staff and the aquatic facilities.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the safety of facility patrons
- Enforces all of the facility’s policies, rules, and regulations
- Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies
- Responds to patron inquiries and concerns and provides Branch information as needed
- Inspects the aquatic facility on a daily schedule and reports unsafe conditions and equipment to supervisor
- Completes records and reports regarding the following: hourly patron attendance, water chemistry, incidents and accidents
- Schedule and Coordinate Staff meetings, in-service training and maintains records of content and participation
- Coordinate new lifeguard staff orientation
- Assist with ensuring current lifeguard certifications are maintained
- Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating of lifeguard staff
- Plan, implement and evaluate in-service training
- Assist with ensuring lifeguards are properly scanning pool at all times (to include silhouette drops)
- Manage aquatic facility in absence of Aquatic Coordinator / Director
- Conduct aquatic facility maintenance as assigned
- Responsible for aquatic facility maintenance during hours of supervision
- Responsible for either opening or closing facility
- Actively promote member service through aquatic activities
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director
Qualifications
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- Minimum of four (4) years lifeguarding experience or relevant staff management experience
- Minimum of two (2) years experience with YMCA or similar organization
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a leadership/ supervisor or similar position
- YMCA Lifeguard Certification or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross Lifeguards must successfully complete a crossover course to YMCA Lifeguard within 60 days of employment and must maintain YMCA certification)
- Current status in the following certifications, to be renewed annually:
- Professional Level CPR
- First Aid
- Automatic External Defibrillator(AED)
- Oxygen Administration
- Must complete the following trainings before working first shift and are to be renewed annually:
- Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention
- Must successfully complete Adult Learning Concepts, Orientation to the YMCA training System, and Facilitation Skills for Trainers
- Must obtain YMCA Lifeguard Instructor within 9 months of employment
- Must obtain YMCA P.O.O.L. certification within 6 months of employment
- Must complete I Create Loyalty Training within 30 days of hire
- Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills
