Position Summary
Under the direction of the Operations Director or Executive Director, the Youth Development Supervisor assists in the leadership of child development, summer camp, and teen programming within the Family Center. The Youth Development Supervisor manages member/program participation and retention through the development and execution of youth / child development and camp programs to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding customer service to all.

Job Responsibilities
- Implement youth/child development, seasonal and summer camps, teen, and parent/child enrichment programs that promote retention of existing members and engagement of new members.
- Direct staff to support youth/child development and summer camp program initiatives to achieve directed outcomes and retention goals.
- Ensure proper implementation of youth/child development and camp schedules and procedures to provide maximum opportunities for member/staff connections. Collaborate and work effectively with all Family Center departments to achieve desired results.
- Identify and employ best practices in systems and technology to support effective management of the youth/child Development and camp programs. Utilize available technology, reporting tools and data that enhance youth development participation and member retention.
- Ensures that the program supplies are maintained and purchased as necessary through the purchase order request and approval process.
- May provide direct supervision to a group of children to support ratio needs.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
- Maintains required records according to YMCA standards, including attendance records, registration information, accident reports and discipline records.
- Create and implement youth / child development and camp programs with an effort to allow participants to continue along a succession plan from child development, camp and to teen programming participation.
- Increase program participation through product knowledge and interactions with existing and potential members. Collaborate with department leads to maximize enrollments in program registrations.
- Plan and execute youth/child development and camp events at the Family Center. Promote the Family Center and the YMCA of Central Florida’s special events among the members and community.
- Recruit, select, develop and retain appropriate skill depth level for the department. Supervise department staff. Assists in leading trainings and career succession plan for staff team and reduce turnover.
- Provide leadership through established performance goals and standards, regular assessment of staff performance including annual performance evaluations, and staff meetings.
- Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Central Florida in the family center and its programs.
- Monitor daily program operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA of Central Florida health and safety standards and policies. Ensure all staff are current with required certifications.
- All other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum age 18 years or older.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree a plus in the area of education, recreation management, physical education or related field of study preferred.
- Three years or more of progressively responsible experience working with children; camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, etc. preferred experience in a camp or school age setting.
- Minimum 1-2 years prior experience working with teen aged youth and programming.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience
- YMCA youth development, camp, operations or related industry experience required.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
