What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Staff - Outdoors (Beaumont) position at YMCA of Central Kentucky?
Are you looking for an outdoors summer job? We are seeking attentive and outgoing membership staff who would like to welcome our members to the outdoor pool for the summer. Please note that our Outdoor Member Service Staff will be working outside in different elements of Kentucky weather.
This is a seasonal position (Memorial Day through Labor Day), primarily serving our members at the outdoor pool gate to assist our members in checking-in to use the outdoor pool and/or facility. A possibility of working indoors could occur due to inclement weather.
The outdoor pool is open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Staff are expected to arrive 15 minutes before the pool opens and stay for 15 minutes after the pool closes. Shifts may vary in length from 3.5-8 hours. Evening and weekend shifts are required. Please note, the outdoor pool hours will be adjusted from August 13th - September 1st.
Age requirement: must be at least 18 years of age

- Show interest in member and guests concerns

- Address complaints/concerns immediately
- Provide information on facility services and programs
- Monitoring Access In/Out of the YMCA facility
- Always look for way to improve performance
- Emphasize fun, make the Y a happy place with positive relationships
- Maintaining Neat/Clean Area
- Able to remain alert for extended periods of time

- Make members feel comfortable and at ease.
- Be open, friendly and approachable to members

Member Involvement Skills:
- Be knowledgeable about programs areas and share information with members
- Be knowledgeable about the YMCA, its programs and policies
- Be informed and up-to-date on latest developments in your field
- Recommend participation in a variety of Y programs
- Be able to articulate the YMCA’s Mission, values and benefits
- Ask members to contribute to the annual campaign
- Be able to articulate the role and importance of volunteers
General Requirements:
This position requires strong organizational, computer, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability and willingness to learn, be able to multi-task with good problem solving skills, along with excellent customer service skills are essential. Individuals with previous customer service experience and/or a related field along with a strong initiative, adaptable to change, and responsive are encouraged to apply.
