The Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the Vice President of Community Impact, is responsible for assisting in the development and administration of the YMCA of Central Kentucky’s Jessamine County YMCA. The coordinator is responsible for the successful operation of quality programs for children, teens, adults, and families in the Nicholasville area. The coordinator will work in collaboration with the Y team, community, businesses, organizations, and schools to provide programs that foster children and families’ social, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being, while ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of program participants.
The position requires exceptional customer service skills, flexibility in scheduling and comprehensive knowledge of the YMCA’s programs and services. The coordinator will primarily work at the Jessamine County YMCA. Assignments may include youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, including education & enrichment programs, youth sports as well as adult & teen programs.
The program coordinator will work approximately 20-25 hours per week. The ideal candidate should be available 4-5 hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Model the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and maintain an environment in which these values are evident to staff, members, program participants and the community-at-large.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships and community visibility to ensure the YMCA maintains a high degree of acceptance and credibility within the service delivery area.
- Provide superior customer service to all program participants with a sincere interest in each individual, a strong follow-through to ensure quality experience, and a focus on stakeholder and participant engagement.
- Assist the VP of Community Impact in recommending, implementing, and directly overseeing a comprehensive program plan, both free and fee-based, which considers space utilization and safety/emergency procedures, and aligns with YMCA core values and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with participants, families, school leadership and community contacts to enhance the services and programs offered.
- Contact and/or respond to volunteers and program participants via email, phone, or in person in a timely manner and work with the team to resolve all matters that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with daily operations, policies, procedures, staff and program requirements, renewal applications, quality checks, and licensed childcare regulations.
- Consistently monitor effectiveness of all programs, keeping with the YMCA core values, and adjusting, as needed.
- Oversee the collection and storage of documents and reports essential for control, evaluation, and reporting of the program.
- Develop and maintain safe and clean program facilities in line with building standards.
- Review and monitor the Jessamine County operating budget, meeting, or exceeding budget targets.
- Assist the VP of Community Impact in the recruiting, hiring, training and supervision of staff and volunteers needed to run successful YMCA programs.
- Work with the Marketing team to effectively communicate and market new and current programs to members and prospective members in a courteous and professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires strong organizational, communication, and strong interpersonal skills, capacity to build relationships and possess an ability to work independently without direct supervision. Must have knowledge of youth and adult programming, including successful design, implementation, ongoing management and continuous growth. Highly organized and motivated with consistent ability to meet/exceed goals. Demonstrate ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities. Ability to understand and engage with diverse people, perspectives, cultures, and economic segments of the community. Requirements within 60 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience supervising youth programs and operations required; experience managing staff and budgets preferred.
