The Aquatics Coordinator at the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, under direction of the Aquatics Director, will lead with the responsibility for all components of the aquatic department while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. Every effort will be made to operate a first-rate Aquatic Program which will focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Pay: $18.00 per hour. Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, Sick Leave, and 403(b) retirement savings account

The Aquatics Coordinator at the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, under direction of the Aquatics Director, will lead with the responsibility for all components of the aquatic department while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. Every effort will be made to operate a first-rate Aquatic Program which will focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Assist with implementation and supervision of all aquatic programs in adherence to YMCA standards
- Actively cover both lifeguarding and swim instruction shifts as needed for employee call outs
- Actively teach "Safety Around Water" swim lessons at our Y for schools, organizations and communities
- Create relationships with Worcester Public Schools, as well as other non-profit organizations working with children & families in the Worcester community
- Ensure the highest standards of aquatic safety, including following all Department of Public Health standards
- Assist in any and all branch program and activities at the request of the Aquatics Director
- High School Diploma Required, but a completed or in progress Bachelor's degree preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in the aquatic field (both lifeguarding & swim instructor)
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience
- Requires completion and maintaining certification as a Lifeguard, and Swim Instructor
- Strong communication and human relation skills in tactfully communication with staff & members
- Must have strong decision making skills related to aquatic safety and operations
