POSITIONSUMMARY :

The EarlyLearning Teacher position supports the work of the YMCA of Collier County,Inc., a leading not-for-profit organization committed to strengthening thecommunities in Collier County through its core focus areas of YouthDevelopment, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The Early Learning Teacher has the primaryresponsibility for implementing a program to provide excellent educationalopportunities and care for young children (aged 3 mos. - 5 years). With the support and guidance of the YouthDevelopment Director and the EL Director, he / she will develop the curriculum tobe used in the classroom. This includespreparing and implementing lessons plans, as well as creating and ensuring thedaily schedule is followed. The EarlyLearning teacher will monitor student development and abilities and willprovide individualized experiences and opportunities to foster growth.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS :

  • Develop classroom curriculum, lesson plans, and daily schedule.
  • Oversee specific components of classroom management.
  • Monitor and keep written records of children's development andskills.
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
  • Monitor children at all times.
  • Attend regular meetings with Youth Development Director andteaching staff to discuss, assess, and plan for various aspects of the Programsuch as curriculum, lesson plans, schedule, classroom procedures, children'sdevelopment, extracurricular activities, concerns of or about parents, and anyother issues that may arise.
  • Report all problems, incidents, and accidents to supervisorimmediately.
  • Complete written incident / illness / accident reports as necessary.
  • Maintain and preserve all program equipment and supplies.
  • Organize room before and clean room and playground after dailyProgram.
  • Promote a positive relationship with parents by making a point ofgreeting them daily, sharing good news about their children with them, andinforming them of any relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Keep the Youth Development Director informed of all program issuesas they arise especially when related to the children's behavior anddevelopment.
  • Complete monthly classroom report.
  • Communicate three times weekly to parents via email format.
  • Maintain training requirements.
  • Be familiar with YMCA mission, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in YMCA programs and promotions.
  • Be an enthusiastic, dedicated, reliable, and committed member ofour team.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Degreein Early Childhood Education (bachelor's degree preferred) or Child DevelopmentAssociate credentials (Director's Credential preferred)
  • Meetall Department of Children and Family standards.
  • Certificationin Infant, Child and Adult CPR, and Basic First Aid.
  • Completionof 45-hour child care course required by the State of Florida.
  • 21years or older with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
  • Holdand maintain a driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Abilityto relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economicsegments of the community.
  • Understandsthe YMCA is a public accommodation committed to inclusion and compliance withthe Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Must be able to meet the Association'sbackground screening requirements.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Mustbe able to stand, remain outdoors, and maintain continual physical endurancefor extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs., watch,listen, and facilitate group activities.
  • Mustbe mentally alert and be able to process and follow directions.
  • Mustbe able to speak, read, and write fluently in the English language.
  • Onsiteattendance is required of this position.
  • TRAININGREQUIREMENTS :

  • Completion of 10-hour Florida SchoolReadiness Program Flamingo course.
  • Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Preventionand Appropriate Touch classes
  • Completion of the YMCA's Blood BornePathogens training
  • Completionof the Social Media & Digital Communications class
  • Completionof the YMCA's Safe Lifting training
  • Additional training classes as requiredfor this position to meet YMCA quality standards.
