What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Aide (Janitorial) position at YMCA of Columbia Willamette?
Description
Under the supervision of the Facility Coordinator, the Facility Aide position is responsible for the maintenance, attractiveness, and longevity of the grounds and facilities of the Clark County Family YMCA. The Aide will take an active role in recommending and carrying out maintenance projects.
Essential Functions
- Complete preventative maintenance and cleaning checklists.
- Monitor facility cleanliness and take necessary action to create a clean, safe and friendly environment.
- In consultation with your supervisor, work with outside vendors to perform repairs and recommend projects for annual major improvements.
- Ability to perform manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, climbing, working at heights, and stand for periods up to 5 hours
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors with hazards associated with the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Self-motivated and capable of carrying out directions independently
- Communicate effectively with leadership staff or supervisor regarding any concerns
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to use a computer.
- Prepare facility for use in morning or secure building for closing in evening
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Functions:
- Occasional after-hours repairs may be required.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
- Commit to establishing long-term and main harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, participants, members and families.
Requirements
- Must pass YMCA background check
- CPR/AED/First Aid certified, or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Knowledge of basic operations of tools and maintenance equipment
- Experience with mechanical, structural, plumbing, pools, and/or electrical engineering positions (preferred)
- Valid State ID or Drivers License
