Early Childhood program looking for Volunteers to read to children!
Position Summary:
The volunteer is responsible for reading to the Early Childhood children in the classroom while supporting the Y's efforts to be the primary leader of youth development in the community.
Essential Functions:
- Follows the lead of key staff on program activities.
- Engages children during reading time
- Builds rapport and relationships with all children and staff.
- Assists key staff in maintaining good order during the program.
Qualifications:
- Believes in and demonstrates the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Fully supports the Y's role in strengthening communities which the Y serves.
Physical Abilities and Working Conditions:
- Has ability to participate in activities scheduled during program time as required.
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to read aloud in a way that engages children
- Ability to lift and carry books (if applicable)
