What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Attendant position at YMCA of Darke County?
The building supervisor delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. The person in this position should display the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Supervisory experience preferred but not required. Previous customer service, sales or related experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills required, plus the ability to effectively address issues and enforce guidelines. Candidate should also have the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Basic knowledge of computers is also helpful.
The building supervisor works at the facility primarily during evening and weekend shifts and enforces guidelines among members, guests, and program participants. The building supervisor
- responds to member and guest needs
- promotes memberships and programs
- maintains cleanliness and organization of the facility
- provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention
- Greets each member, making them feel welcome. Learns and uses member names and thanks them.
- Helps Member Services staff with assisting members, guests and participants as needed.
- Has working knowledge of all emergency procedures, understands the building supervisor’s role during an emergency, and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
- Keeps radio on and with them at all times.
- Completes related incident reports as required
The building supervisor monitors the entire facility including
- the Wellness Center
- weight room
- gyms
- track
- hallways
- locker rooms
- pool, steam room and sauna areas
The building supervisor also is tasked with enforcing facility rules and member code of conduct, and addresses incidents or violations immediately, in an assertive, yet professional and courteous manner.
Prior to closing time,
- assures that the closing procedures are completed
- Secures the building by checking all outside doors to make sure they are locked
- Walks through the facility to assure that everyone is out and that towels, balls and garbage, etc. is picked up, final laundry loads are complete, all lights are turned off and doors locked.
This position could be a part time or full time position. Hours vary, evenings and weekends are required. We offer competitive wages, commensurate with experience.
