The YMCA of DeKalb County is looking for responsible and safety-minded Lifeguards to ensure a safe and welcoming environment at our pools. Key Responsibilities
Ensure Safety: Maintain active surveillance of the pool and respond to emergencies following YMCA policies.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to react immediately in crisis situations.
Maintain Standards: Follow all YMCA policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Pool Maintenance: Conduct equipment checks and perform routine chemical testing when required.
Be a Leader: Stay calm under pressure, respond to challenges with solutions, and provide excellent service to members.
Qualifications
✔ Minimum Age: 16
✔ Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED
- First Aid & Emergency Oxygen Administration
- YMCA Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent)
✔ Additional Requirements:
- Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire
- Ability to remain alert and physically perform all lifeguard duties
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work in a humid, chlorinated, and warm environment
Maintain visual and auditory awareness of all pool zones
Stay alert and ready to respond at all times
Perform lifeguard skills as required by the YMCA
