Salary: $49,500 – $60,000 per year. Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
Before After School Enrichment (BASE), Camp, Teen and/ or Sports Programming
- Responsible for managing all aspects of the assigned program area including developing, coordinating and implementing comprehensive youth programs and initiatives.
- Create and implement a program budget and manage expenses
- Plan, coordinate, and equip all events, leagues, field trips, and program activities to ensure implementation.
- Recruit, interview, select, and schedules staff, volunteers, and program participants.
- Evaluate program’s effectiveness as well as determine ways to make improvements.
- Motivate staff, achieve goals and evaluate staff performance.
- Ensures all rules and regulations set forth by the governing entity for assigned program area are followed and met. This includes but is not limited to: YMCA, American Camp Association (ACA), Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) and Department of Public Health.
- Create new and innovative product offerings to meet the needs of families, our communities, and members.
- Ensure program sites are safe by conducting program audits on a regular basis and ensuring scheduled activity and sports are implemented as scheduled.
- Ensure all volunteers follow YMCA of Delaware online application process and complete all required trainings prior to serving our programs
- Participates in Manager on Duty shift duties as assigned by branch leadership
- Attends and is involved in the YMCA Program Leadership Team meetings and all camp, sports, and BASE related subgroups.
- Maintain accurate records essential for control and evaluation of all programs.
- Attends monthly Leadership Staff meetings and other branch/administrative activities as assigned.
- Participates in a leadership level with the Annual Campaign.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Child Development Director or Senior Executive Director.
- Adjusts work schedule to meet the needs of the program and provide opportunities to shadow and coach staff performance at all available program timeslots, including evening and weekends.
- Recommends any necessary program changes that will more effectively and efficiently improve our program quality and safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community
- Four or more years of program management experience or equivalent, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- The incumbent must possess a background in supervision of staff and discipline and education of children, in addition to good management skills in planning, organizing, staffing, and directing programs.
- Ability to direct and grow programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, and program leadership.
- The position requires a high level of human relations skills, as well as parental and child interactions.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Minimum of 2 seasons experience as a player or official for sports assigned
- Knowledge of rules and protocols for sports assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-lingual skills
- Bachelor’s degree in desired program content area: elementary education, sports, etc.
- Strong analytical skills
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/branch Leader certification
