Position Summary:
Great opportunity for a mission minded professional to become part of a dynamic, forward thinking staff team. The ideal candidate is passionate about aquatics. The Aquatics Director will focus on the development and growth of Swim Lessons, Water Exercise, Safety Training, and Specialty Aquatics Programming. This position will also lead the day to day operation of two indoor pools and five outdoor community pools.
Excellent relationship building skills, communication skills, financial skills, and commitment to lifelong learning required. Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid Certifications required, instructor certifications preferred. Must have experience in leading and developing others. Flexibility in work schedule crucial, as position sometimes requires afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
Located 30 minutes from Madison, Wisconsin, the YMCA of Dodge County has a $4.0 million budget, an annual campaign goal of $200,000, and operates in a 15-year-old 65,000 square foot facility with the region's finest indoor water park and Child Development Center. The Y has a strong before/after school program with five sites located throughout the county. Programs are also driven by strong aquatic programs that includes operating five community aquatic centers. Our Y continually strives to create new ways of impacting over 23,000 lives annually.
Education and Certifications
· Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certifications required, Lifeguard Instructor certification and Certified Pool Operator certification preferred.
Experience
· Must have lifeguard and aquatics experience.
· One year minimum of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
· Budget development and administration skills preferred. Planning and program development skills are helpful.
· Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable driver’s record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors, and suppliers, etc.
· Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
Essential Functions
-Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
-Ensure the safe delivery of aquatic programs to members, participants and guests, making the YMCA a community leader in Aquatics
-Develop and implement safe high quality programming, scheduling, purchasing of equipment, and promotion for facility and off-site aquatic programs and other programs
-Maintain a clean and safe pool environment; maintain program areas and equipment to meet all relevant standards
-Hire, train, supervise and evaluate a professional team of qualified aquatic staff and volunteers; ensure lifeguard coverage; staff all programs appropriately to ensure coverage during all programs, activities, and open swimming times
-Maintain American Red Cross lifeguard certifications
-Ensure all aquatics staff acquire and maintain necessary licenses/certifications; train all staff in emergency procedures and incident reporting
-Direct and coordinate all aquatic programs, CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard/AED licensing/certification programs
-Manage all necessary information and records for the development of programs, program participants and program evaluations
-Respond to member and participant concerns in a timely, professional manner
-Lifeguard and lead programs in support of staff when necessary; provide fun, supportive work environment with high staff morale and proper recognition
-Prepare budgets for all aquatics programs and assure adherence to final budget income generation and expense control
-Serve on and participate in appropriate committees; attend staff meetings and training sessions
-Serve as a leader in the Annual Gifts Change Lives Campaign and actively participate in events
