What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor - Dance - Brooks YMCA position at YMCA of Florida's First Coast?
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Group Exercise Coordinator and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, the Kid's Fitness Instructor will be directly responsible for the safety, supervision, programming and involvement with program participants and their families.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise all aspects of the daily operation of assigned program areas and staff.
- Ensure all guidelines, records, and reports for the pediatric Medical Referral Program are followed in the proper timeframes.
- Ensure the health and safety of each participant and maintain a safe and clean program site.
- Responsible for upkeep of all program equipment and the facilities used during program time.
- Be a positive influence and role model in the lives of participants.
- Accept the goals and objectives of the YMCA and work to achieve them.
- Take part in all training or in-service activities to develop proficiencies required performing job responsibilities.
- Attend staff meetings
- Responsible for developing lesson plans and implementing them on a daily basis.
- Maintain positive relationships, open communication with parents, YMCA personnel, participants, administration and volunteers.
- Maintain a positive reinforcement coaching style.

Qualifications:
- High school education / GED
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate fitness activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
