What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Teacher (Tiger) position at YMCA OF FLORIDA'S FIRST COAST?
Position Summary:
The Music Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression through music. They will create an environment of inclusion and learning for all participants regardless of skill, ability, age and background.
Essential Functions:
1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
2. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets with the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
3. Prepares for assigned classes, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
5. Supervises students in order to protect the students from conditions harmful to learning and/or to the student's mental and/or physical health and/or safety. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
6. Introduces students to various musical performers and styles.
7. Teaches students about creating, performing and listening to music.
8. Provides students with basic vocal instruction and teaches them about various instruments, including percussion, brass, woodwinds and string instruments.
9. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
10. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
11. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
12. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
