Overview:
The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and experienced After School Group Counselor to join our team. Urgent hiring for Fort Worth ISD area. As a Group Counselor, you will be responsible for supervising and guiding a group of students in various activities from 2:30 - 6:00pm. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have experience working with children and are passionate about creating a positive and engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage with a group of students during activities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and programs
- Provide guidance and support to students in their academic, social, and emotional development
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students under your care
- Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed
Skills:
- Experience working with students in a daycare, classroom, or special education setting
- Strong sports coaching skills to facilitate physical activities
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques
- Ability to create engaging and educational lesson plans
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with children
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and individual needs
- Familiarity with Christian counseling principles (preferred)
- Previous experience in childcare or babysitting (preferred)
