What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swim Coach: Lowe's YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Charlotte?
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator / Director and in accordance with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Swim Team Coach is responsible for teaching swim lessons according to YMCA of the USA program standards.
- Be responsible for the growth and development of the Swim Team
- Create a positive learning environment through personal enthusiasm
- Be safety-conscious, maintain order and enforce rules during lessons to ensure swimmer safety
- Keep accurate records of attendance and skills achieved by each student
- Provide each student with written records of progress
- Attend coaches meetings
- Coach practices and Swim Meets
- Communicate effectively with parents about practice and meet schedules
- Coordinate program evaluation process.
- Coordinate parent/ volunteer involvement in the program
- Coordinate transportation to and from meets
- Coordinate end of season celebration
- Carries out additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- At least 4 years experience with Swim Teams, 1 of which in a coaching capacity
- Current certification in CPR/AED (ARC Community CPR or National Safety Council Level I)
- Current First Aid certification
- Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Orientation within 60 days of employment
- Must successfully complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte Bloodborne Pathogens training within 60 days employment
- Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent with 60 days
- Obtain Principles of YMCA Aquatic Leadership and Fundamentals of Teaching YMCA Swim Lessons within 60 days employment or equivalent
- Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to work effectively with youth and adult volunteers
