What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central South Referee: Harris YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Charlotte?
Under the general supervision of the Associate Sports Director, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Sports Official is responsible for enforcement of official league rules and philosophy during all scheduled games.
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:
- Begin each game with a Christian prayer.
- Maintain atmosphere consistent with the YMCA Christian Mission during games.
- Diffuse conflict situations involving parents, coaches and players.
- Communicate any inappropriate behavior to Associate Sports Director and/or Sr. Sports Director.
- Enforce rules for particular sport.
Requirements:
- The incumbent must be in support of the YMCA’s Christian mission and Youth Sports philosophy
- sufficient knowledge of rules for the specific sport being officiated.
- He/She must be enthusiastic and be able to develop positive relationships with coaches, children and parents.
- Certification in Infant/Child CPR, Adult CPR/AED and First Aid required within 60 days of employment.
