What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fitness Associate: Keith YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Charlotte?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Consistent with the mission of the YMCA, the Fitness Associate will interact with new and existing members to help them in achieving their health and wellness goals. Creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet all members, guest, and staff pleasantly and with courtesy
- Responsible for working the fitness floor 2 shifts per week plus 1 weekend day per month
- Help members and program participants connect with one another to form positive relationships
- Increase member engagement through the promotion of programs and/or volunteer opportunities
- Maintain fitness equipment and upkeep of fitness facility (strength and cardiovascular areas).
- Attend meetings/trainings and assigned events.
- Actively participate in community fundraising campaigns i.e. Annual Giving, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Basic understanding of fitness through previous personal/job experiences
- Infant/Child and Adult CPR/AED trained, First Aid certification and Blood Borne Pathogen trained upon hire.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Enthusiastic, friendly, and positive demeanor
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively
- Excellent customer service skills; ability to promote member engagement
