What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ninja Warrior Gymnastics Instructor: Harris YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Charlotte?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Gymnastics Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Ninja Warrior Gymnastics Instructor will work to administer policies and programs of the association including: Ninja Warrior, Parkour, and Gymnastics.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide sustained focus and attention to energetic students during class time in the Gymnastics Center.
- Uphold all department rules, regulations, and safety policies during all program areas and activities.
- No previous gymnastics experience necessary: however must be able to abide by and follow provided lesson plans, department expectations, and attend required trainings.
- Must be able to work harmoniously among diverse staff team and program participants while providing a positive and creative outlets relating to Ninja Warrior, Parkour and Gymnastics
- Must be able to prepare, implement, and facilitate lesson plans for indoor and outdoor activities.
- Assist in the planning and developing of camp program experience for members and non-members.
- Attend staff/coaching meetings.
- Responsible for maintaining positive communication regarding program details, updates, or upcoming pertinent information.
- Facilitate timely and appropriate responses to member/patron issues or needs.
- Monitor Gymnastics Center and equipment for maintenance needs or concerns, taking appropriate action if necessary.
- Carry out all additional duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- No previous gymnastics experience necessary.
- Skills in working with children and help to make their YMCA experience a meaningful one.
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older
- CPR, AED and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Must possess clear communication skills with children, adults, co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner.
- Must be able to “spot” participants during activities in the gym.
- Mature individual with good moral character and integrity.
- Bloodborne Pathogens training within 30 days of hire.
- Must possess strong leadership and decision making skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to see and hear clearly 30 yards away
- Ability to provide sustained attention to participants during activity hours both in and out of the Gymnastics Center
- Ability to stand, kneel, stoop, crouch, and climb onto a spotting block to assist a participant.
- Ability to “spot” a child, including the strength to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Ability to move equipment including the strength to push or pull 75 pounds.
