The Waterpark Slide Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of waterpark slides and
attractions while providing exceptional customer service to guests. This role involves monitoring guest activity, enforcing safety rules, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The Slide Operator plays a critical role in ensuring guests have a fun, safe, and memorable experience at the waterpark.

Essential Functions:
• Monitor and direct guest traffic on water slides and attractions, ensuring safe and efficient use
while maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
• Verify the height of children to confirm eligibility for waterpark slide activities and communicate rules and guidelines to guests effectively.
• Provide an enjoyable and positive experience for each waterpark member or guest, promoting a fun and inclusive environment.
• Be safety-conscious by maintaining order, enforcing rules, and addressing safety concerns to ensure the well-being of all guests; report difficult situations to the supervisor immediately.
• Inspect slides, equipment, and surrounding areas to identify and report maintenance or safety issues, ensuring the facility remains in top condition.
• Participate in required training and certifications within the allotted timeframe, demonstrating a commitment to safety and operational standards.
• Create a positive environment by promoting the YMCA’s Christian values and fostering opportunities for guests' spiritual growth.
• Maintain professionalism through punctuality, a neat appearance, and respectful behavior, setting
an example for fellow staff and guests.
• Collaborate with team members to complete daily tasks, assist other staff, and ensure smooth waterpark operations.
• Participate in safety drills and demonstrate readiness to respond to emergencies effectively and promptly.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by leadership.
Required Qualifications:
• Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application.
• Ability to remain vigilant and alert for extended periods in an outdoor environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests of all ages.

• Ability to enforce rules firmly and professionally while maintaining a friendly attitude.

All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and
programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in customer service, recreation, or aquatic settings is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of water safety principles and guest supervision.
Working Conditions:
• Indoor or outdoor waterpark setting with exposure to a variety or temperature and weather
conditions including sun, heat, humidity, and wet conditions.
• Physically active role requiring standing, walking, climbing stairs, and assisting guests for extended periods.
• Loud environment with high guest interaction and varying noise levels.
• Requires alertness and quick decision-making to ensure guest safety.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist guests as needed.
• Work schedule may include weekends, evenings, and holidays during peak seasons.
