What are the responsibilities and job description for the Y Kids Team Leader: Dowd YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Charlotte?
Under the supervision of the Child Watch Director, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the Child Watch Team Leader will be responsible for the supervision, leadership and management of an assigned age group or area in the Child Watch Department.
- Secure supplies needed for assigned age group or area
- Ensure that assigned area has adequate staff at all times, securing substitutes when necessary
- Meet with staff on assigned team on a regular basis
- Develop and implement structured plan for assigned area
- Greet each child/parent when the enter or leave; communicate with parents on key issues
- Conduct a minimum of two performance evaluations with each team member annually
- Promote program evaluation cards to parents to achieve an 80% return rate and at least a 4.75 quality rating for each staff member
- Attend required meetings
- Coordinate the behavior management plan for assigned age group or area
- Attend a minimum of 5 hours of training in child development or staff development annually
- Maintain facility cleanliness standards
- Coordinate the presentation of a variety of age-appropriate activities within assigned age group or area
- Provide superior customer service to members and their children
- Adhere to branch and Child Watch departmental policies
- Ensure a proper set-up and break-down of area on a daily basis
- Provide appreciation and positive recognition for Child Watch staff
- Maintain accurate records relating to attendance and injuries
- Administers the Association, branch, and Childwatch departmental policies and procedures
Requirements:
- High School Diploma along with 1-2 Yrs. Experience working with children in education and/or healthcare
- Posses supervisory and conflict resolution skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with members/children/staff
- Excellent organizational skills and presentation skills to aide in planning in the Child Watch Area
- Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative and independent thinking
