What are the responsibilities and job description for the Y Scholars Site Coordinator: Brace YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Charlotte?
Under the direction of the YScholars Program Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the YScholars Center/Site Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing, implementing and coordinating the YScholars daily activities at a specific site. The program includes TK – grade 12.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Keeps informed on trends and changes in legislation applicable to state homeschool policy and makes needed programmatic changes.
- Ensures students are meeting their state requirements for academics.
- Responsible for Risk Management, Quality Standards, Child Abuse and Safety for all program areas.
- Develops and implements age appropriate programming in each assigned area.
- Develops goals and objectives for the departments that will reflect the association’s goals.
- Maintains records to evaluate and measure the effectiveness of assigned responsibilities.
- Works with YScholars Program Director in analyzing survey data and implementation of improvements to programs.
- Develops, nurtures and maintains positive relationships with area schools, churches, civic groups, businesses and community organizations.
- Partners with Community Development to identify and manage grant funding opportunities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
- Must be a certified teacher or have a minimum three years of teaching or homeschool experience.
- Proven ability to Roster to assist the Director in the recruiting, orienting, training, supervising, training, evaluating and recognizing/retaining staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrated experience in program planning, safety and evaluation.
- Proven ability in program development, marketing and promotion.
- Demonstrated ability and initiative in developing harmonious relationships with staff, members, volunteers and community leaders.
- Possess excellent written/oral communication skills; bi-lingual a plus.
- Ability to think critically and work independently.
- Adaptive and decisive.
- Knowledge of personal computer applications (ie: Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner as well as skills in conflict situations with both staff and members.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
- Certification in Infant/Child/Adult CPR, First Aid, AED, New Staff Orientation, Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention upon hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work irregular work hours.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to lift (up to 50 lbs.) and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
- Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
