Camp Counselor

Salary: $13 per hour.
General Function
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
Under the direction of the Camp Director, and in accordance with the Christian nature and purpose of the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, the Camp Counselor is responsible for the direct supervision of program participants in a seasonal camp setting.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the association's mission, goals and vision for serving the community. The Camp Counselor will be responsible for the following:
1. Supervise program participants in camp programs.
2. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate.
3. Maintains safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Attends staff meetings and trainings
5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to ACA standards, medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
6. Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

The incumbent is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, to talk and hear, sit, lift and or move up to 40 lbs., to climb and or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, to us hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The incumbent is regularly required to work under pressure and or to work rapidly to meet deadlines. More than 90% of time spent outdoors working in seasonal weather conditions. The noise level is normal to loud within an active YMCA program environment.
