The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the designated YMCA facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform daily cleaning of assigned facility including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing restrooms & locker rooms, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, trash removal, window cleaning, trash pickup and removal, spill cleanup, floor cleaning and maintenance in all areas of the Y.
- Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products
- In charge of vacuuming equipment; vacuums and cleans carpets, performs further treatments such as shampoo or stain-removal as needed
- Ensure all directions for cleaning chemicals and supplies are followed as directed.
- Responsible for ensuring proper supply levels are maintained, as well as reporting all inventory and/or supply needs to supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
- Interacts with members and staff in a positive, professional manner that supports our cause.
- Report any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisor immediately.
- Assist and/or perform projects of a special nature.
- Must be able to read, and write legibly and in an understandable manner.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High School diploma preferred.
- Previous experience in commercial housekeeping required.
- Any Janitorial, Custodial or Floor Maintenance certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with members and YMCA staff.
- Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Customer-oriented and friendly.
- Prioritization and time management skills.
- Working quickly without compromising quality.
- Must be able to read and understand cleaning product and equipment instructions and apply them effectively.
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.
- Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
- Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).
- Must be able to move and lift 50-75 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to climb a ladder.
- A frequent amount of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
