Position Summary
Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Creates positive,
nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with
parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.

Essential Functions
- Ensure the safety of the children enrolled in the program.
- Document and respond to all participate incidents.
- Maintain essential records and attendance sheets.
- Complete required reports.
- Maintain current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and BBP Blood Bourne Pathogens.
- Provide guidance and assistance during activities.
- Prepare/ follow assigned curriculum.
- Maintain discipline of children.
- Ensure necessary supplies, including First Aid, BBP protective equipment.
- Maintain rapport with parents and participants.
- Ability to read, write, and understand written directions
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience working or participating in any sports program.
- Previous work experience working with children is preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must complete concussion training prior to working in a sports related activity
- CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
- Must receive ODJFS (Ohio Department of Job and Family Services) licensing certification within 30 days of hire. (for licensed camps only)
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.
- Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions
- Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process.
