Y-Haven Housekeeper

Y-Haven provides temporary housing and drug and alcohol treatment to adults in Cuyahoga County who are most in need. Formed in 1993 by the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Y-Haven has helped thousands recover from addiction, secure permanent housing, and re-build their lives. Y-Haven offers healing and hope.

Position Summary

The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the designated YMCA facility.

Essential Functions

• Perform daily cleaning of assigned facility including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing restrooms & locker rooms, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, trash removal, window cleaning, trash pickup and removal, spill cleanup, floor cleaning and maintenance in all areas of the Y.
• Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products
• In charge of vacuuming equipment; vacuums and cleans carpets, performs further treatments such as shampoo or stain-removal as needed
• Ensure all directions for cleaning chemicals and supplies are followed as directed.
• Responsible for ensuring proper supply levels are maintained, as well as reporting all inventory and/or supply needs to supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
• Interacts with members and staff in a positive, professional manner that supports our cause.
• Report any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Assist and/or perform projects of a special nature.
• Must be able to read, and write legibly and in an understandable manner.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  
  

Qualifications

Education:

• High School diploma preferred.
  
  

Experience

• Previous experience in commercial housekeeping required.
  
  

Certification(s) & Requirements

• Any Janitorial, Custodial or Floor Maintenance certification preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
• Must be 18 years of age.

• Must be able to read and understand cleaning product and equipment instructions and apply them effectively.

• Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
• Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).
  
  

Physical Demands

• Must be able to move and lift 50-75 lbs.
• Must be willing and able to climb a ladder.
• A frequent amount of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.
• May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather.
