Description:
The Day Camp Director is responsible for the safety and well-being of all day campers. He/She will assist with staff training and program/character development processes pertaining to Day Camp.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Executive Director with hiring and onboarding of day camp staff
- Work on planning projects before summer begins
- Create weekly schedules for all day camp programs
- Provide support with camper behavioral problems
- Help to ensure a high-quality program/theme delivery
- Support counselors, specialists, and mission team as appropriate
- Assist with daily logistics when possible, such as setting up for theme events, creating the weekly newsletter/handouts for parents, helping with cookout, etc.
- Organize and track supplies, and assist in set-up of scheduled Day Camp activities
- Help train counselors on new activities when necessary
- Assure that Day Camp standards are met at all times in accordance with camp’s risk management policy and various regulating agencies
- Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the camp family
- Participate in all general Mission Team tasks as set out before the season begins
- Attend weekly Mission Team meetings to discuss, plan, and evaluate camp sessions
- Evaluate current session and make recommendations for the following summer
- Complete program binder and include end-of-summer inventory by the end of the summer season
- Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required
- Previous camp experience, desire and ability to work with children and adults in an outdoor setting, ability to relate to one’s peer group, ability to creatively schedule programs, facilities, and staff, ability to accept guidance and supervision, ability and experience in supervising campers and staff, good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control. Must be 21 years old.

- Physical Requirements: Speak and write clearly, speak fluent English, Read & write English, Bend/stoop/twist, Lift up to 50 lbs
- Working Conditions: Work in an outdoor setting over 8 hours/day, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.
