This position works on the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids sports team and will lead training sessions at each branch location, based on need.

The YMCA of Great Grand Rapids utilizes a Membership By Design framework, which is a member involvement and community building model for YMCAs across the country. All staff members—front-line, management, full- and part-time—and volunteers have a role to play in member engagement. These responsibilities can be broken into six steps:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The basketball instructor will plan, develop, and implement basketball curriculum for the Next Level Hoops program. This position requires face-to-face leadership in these programs and may involve early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises and instructs basketball.
- Develops and leads weekly lessons to ages 6 years old - adult
- Prepare any additional materials needed for classes or clinics
- Maintain records of attendance
- Provides outstanding member service
- Promotes programs in the community as outlined by supervisors
- Actively involved in student retention
- Conducts student evaluations
Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association.
COMPENSATION
$20.00 - $24.71 ; Part Time, Non Exempt (up to 25 hours/week)

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
5 years of experience in basketball programming and instruction; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. Basketball coaching at high school level or higher preferred and/or collegiate or professional player preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
- State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
- Blood Borne Pathogen training
- CPR Certification required within the first 90 days
- First Aid Certification required within the first 90 days
