The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an Active Older Adults Program Director to join our team.

As an Active Older Adults Program Director, you will develop, coordinate, and provide administrative support for the department at a center, as defined by budget size, staff count, and program scope and scale. If hired, you will supervise department staff and their functions to ensure quality programs. You will also be responsible for providing leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants through innovative program development, evaluations, and ongoing training of staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, implement, and evaluate programs, activities, and events, with a focus on AOA members.
- Create and schedule health and well-being classes.
- Identify and cultivate community partnerships with the goal of bringing more AOA members into our centers and increasing engagement of current AOA members.
- Play an active role in managing Insurance-Based Membership opportunities.
- Establish new program activities and expand programs to meet the needs of the community in accordance with Association strategic and operating plans.
- Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Recruit, train, and support AOA volunteers.
- Confidently lead members through health and well-being programs while demonstrating current safety guidelines to assist in improving the four components of fitness; flexibility, strength, muscular endurance, and cardio-respiratory conditioning, for all fitness levels.
- Assist members with fitness goals through motivation, instruction, and support.
- Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Track hourly usage to ensure the department has enough staff for safety.
- Provide input to help inform and develop marketing materials and support distribution of program information.
- Collaborate with the Association Operational Focus Groups and other directors of YMCA PKC branches to ensure consistent association-wide programming.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Identify and develop AOA small groups, activities, and events.
- In partnership with the Sr. Director, manage and implement the approved program budget.
- Research, obtain approval and purchase new equipment.
- Utilize purchase orders, check requests and expense reports per association policies. Use a system to track and monitor ongoing expenses, purchase orders and inventory.
- In partnership with the Sr. Director, recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed.
- Work in collaboration with senior management to review and evaluate staff performance.
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Support development and implementation of program specific volunteer training program. Assist staff in identifying productive and creative volunteer roles.
- Review, approve, and submit staff time cards to payroll department per schedule.
- Track volunteer hours and record appropriately.
- Schedule shifts and process time off request forms for staff.
- Provide all departmental staff with professional development.
- Ensure that all mandatory training is scheduled, funded, and completed.
- Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
- Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.
- Develop relationships with internal / external members to secure and support branch financial development success.
- Provide training and equip staff with tools to better communicate our cause.
- Embraces and actively promotes an inclusive and equitable work environment.

Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree and / or two years related knowledge and experience that includes supervision, fiscal management, program development, staff and volunteer development.Knowledge of current health and well-being safety and program standards, latest trends in the industry and the ability to articulate and incorporate them.Knowledge of and experience in planning, organizing, and implementing age-appropriate / developmentally appropriate program activities.Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populationsDemonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and file maintenance.YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent, CPR for the Professional, AED First Aid, and Oxygen certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days.Wage : $21.47 to $23.47 per hour, depending on qualifications
