Responsibilities
- Greet members, participants, staff and general public in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Enforce Y policies and guidelines for the basketball court, walking/running track, weight room, circuit room, teen center, and/or computer lab, in a professional manner.
- Verify all members and participants using the facility have followed check-in procedures properly.
- Answer phone lines according to YMCA phone procedures.
- Respond to needs and questions with accurate and detailed information.
- Handle complaints in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Notify appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, complaints, needed repairs, incidents, or accidents immediately.
- Educate members and prospective members on services, programs, events and volunteer opportunities.
- Keep gym, basketball court, and any assigned work area clean and well organized.
- Assess the ability of a patron to climb safely and understand what to look for in a safely worn harness.
- Must successfully complete the belay certification training for Rock Wall
- Provide belays to Climbing Wall participants and facilitate each participant’s climbing experience.
- Educate new participants in Climbing Wall policies, belay commands, and indoor rock-climbing techniques and skills.
- Assist in the facilitation of Climbing Wall events and programs as needed.
- Monitor Climbing Wall floor for hazardous behaviors, actions, and practices.
- Performs visual inspections and equipment and complete safety checklists.
Qualifications
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Must have good communication skills to include phone skills.
- Able to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
- Highly organized, detail, and goal oriented.
- Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
