SPARK! Summer Camp has all the fun and excitement of camp with awesome field trips and exciting learning opportunities!
Learning coaches work with classroom instructors to provide children a full-day summer camp experience. In addition to dedicated academic time for campers in the morning, SPARK! includes holistic learning from the Y’s Youth Development curriculum, including healthy lifestyle components, nutrition,character education and much more.
The SPARK! Learning Coach assists in the planning, implementation, and facilitation of enrichment curriculum and program activities. Guides the academic and social development of children ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment. Use a variety of resources, to introduce skills in 4 Block, Arts, Music, Physical Activity, Character Development, STEM, and Nutrition Education.

Responsibilities
- Plans and facilitates purposeful and engaging activities that complement the program.
- Collaborates with teacher to ensure enrichment activities are aligned with literacy instruction.
- Provides careful, attentive supervision; alert at all times.
- Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior and understand positive youth development approaches.
- Facilitates a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children.
- Carry out established roles for supervising the children’s health and enforcing Y safety regulations.
- Identify emergency situations then respond quickly and appropriately.
- Sets up for and cleans up after all classroom activities.
- Maintain all educational equipment and supplies in good order.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum two years experience working with youth preferred.
- Understanding of and ability to apply principles of quality youth development and programming.
- Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
- Active engagement with and supervision of children requiring physical stamina, alertness and emotional stability.
- Commitment and desire to provide quality youth development services.
- Have a general understanding of computer technology.
