DIRECTOR OF FUND DEVELOPMENT

Job Description
Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer and in support of the CEO and COO, the Fund Development Director is responsible for identifying, engaging, cultivating, and soliciting leadership gifts from individual, corporate, and foundation prospects and current donors in support of the Association’s strategic goals and initiatives for major gift giving, annual campaign, capital campaign, planned giving and special events all for YMCA of Greater Michiana.
Essential Functions
1. Develop strong community partners through collaborative efforts that will strengthen the YMCA movement in the community.
2. Establish a stewardship plan to manage the identification, engagement, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift donors.
3. Conduct grant research and submit written proposals and grants with supporting documentation.
4. Work collaboratively with program teams to identify, collect, and compile targeted outcomes of programs to support grant/funding requirements.
5. Continue the development and implementation of a formal annual campaign process.
6. Support capital campaign initiatives.
7. Plan, organize, and implement donor recognition events and support/assist in any association-wide special events.
8. Design and implement a 3-5 year planned giving strategy. Cultivate and expand current giving by integrating planned giving gift objectives into major donor funding requests.
9. Record all development activity in the campaign module of Daxko, the Y’s database.
10. Work with the leadership team to establish annual goals, strategies, and budgets for the Y’s contribution revenue.
11. Attend management meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
2. Must have 3-5 years of experience in financial development with emphasis on annual giving, foundation and corporate grants, capital development, and/or planned giving preferably with a non-profit organization.
3. The successful candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, professional, and highly ethical.
4. Ability and desire to build authentic and lasting relationships with donor prospects, donors, board members, and other constituents.
5. Ability to recruit and lead volunteers.
6. Exceptional written and verbal skills.
7. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
8. Ability to conduct prospect and donor research and analyze wealth and gift information for strategic purposes.
9. Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
10. Ability to manage multiple projects.
11. Willingness to work in a collaborative environment.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
13. Ability to work independently while finding motivation in shared metrics and goals.
14. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements
Must have sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and oversee fundraising activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
