EQUINE PROGRAM STAFF - Are you passionate about horses and love working with kids? Our camp is looking for dedicated equine staff to help create unforgettable experiences for our campers! As part of our team, you'll assist with horse care, riding sessions, and campers interactions, all while enjoying the great outdoors! Reports To: Equestrian Director
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Position Summary:
To further the mission of the YMCA through the assisting and delivery of a horseback riding program that is safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities. Assist in the physical operation of the horseback riding facilities and equipment. Daily feeding and cleaning responsibilities will be required.
Qualifications:
1. Ability to instruct and participate in a safe and fun horseback riding program.
2. Knowledge of horses and their health and welfare.
3. Understand the mission of the YMCA.
Experience
1. Certification in horseback riding or equivalent experience.
2. Prior experience in the training of horseback riding activities in a camp environment.
3. Previous farm experience.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Assist in supervising safe and fun riding activities that meet the needs of a variety of participants.
2. Implementing best practices when assisting with teaching and safety protocols.
3. Support the mission of the Y through adhering to instructional guidelines that promote healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
4. Assist in monitoring the physical facilities, equipment, supplies, and horses for safety and functionality. Report any needs or issues to the Equestrian Director.
5. Assist in maintaining the health, safety, and comfort of the camp lesson horses.
6. Daily chores to be done in the time frame scheduled.
7. Demonstrate teamwork and professionalism when working closely with other staff members.
8. Be up-to-date and knowledgeable about all safety and security guidelines set out by YMCA Camp Eberhart and the American Camping Association.
9. Able to communicate with others how the YMCA supports kids, adults, and families in the community.
